Tom Morello Gifts His Signature Guitar to 10-Year-Old Rage Against The Machine Fan
She’s been covering Rage songs playing guitar, bass and drums in support of Black Lives Matter.
10-year-old viral sensation and multi-instrumentalist Nandi Bushell has taken YouTube by storm thanks to her covers of Nirvana, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Anderson .Paak and more in which she jams out on the drums and plays the bass and guitar with a veteran’s precision. After covering Rage Against The Machine‘s “Guerrilla Radio” on guitar, bass and drums in support of Black Lives Matter, guitarist Tom Morello took notice.
Morello tweeted his stamp of approval saying, “Well now we are on the right track.” The original caption for the video reads: “Solidarity in the fight to end racism! The song is one of Nandi’s favorite songs. Nandi has loved Rage Against The Machine since she was a baby.” He then sent Nandi a video response and gifted her with one of his latest signature guitars, the Fender Soul Power Stratocaster.
“I’d like you to have this guitar as a gift from me to you because you rock so great, and to see someone rocking so great who is so young, it really gives me hope for the future,” Morello said to Nandi. “I didn’t start playing guitar until I was 17 years old, so you are way, super far ahead of me, and I look forward to hearing a lot more of your music in the future. You’ve got a lot of soul, and here’s a little Soul Power to go with it. Keep it up!”
When the world opens back up, Rage Against The Machine will join Run The Jewels for their “Public Service Announcement” Reunion Tour. Watch Tom’s message above and see Nandi rock out below.
