Apple TV+ Shares a First Look Teaser for Its Upcoming Sci-FI Series 'Foundation'
Based on the award-winning novels by Isaac Asimov.
Apple TV+ released a teaser for its upcoming original series Foundation, based on the award-winning novels by science fiction author Isaac Asimov. Foundation “chronicles a band of exiles on their monumental journey to save humanity and rebuild civilization amid the fall of the Galactic Empire,” according to an official description.
The series will arrive on the streaming service in 2021 after showrunner David S. Goyer was forced to put production on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic. An adaptation of Foundation has been attempted for over 50 years, according to Goyer in the trailer above. It’s a piece of science fiction that went on to inspire Star Wars, which went on to influence pop culture.
Foundation stars SAG Award-winner and Emmy-nominee Jared Harris as Hari Seldon; Lee Pace as Brother Day; Lou Llobell as Gaal; Leah Harvey as Salvor; Laura Birn as Demerzel; Terrence Mann as Brother Dusk; and Cassian Bilton as Brother Dawn. The show is also executive produced by Robyn Asimov, Josh Friedman, Cameron Welsh, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Marcy Ross, and Goyer himself.
The news came during Apple’s WWDC 2020 event. The addition of Foundation to Apple TV+ comes as Apple looks to expand on the premium content streaming service its streaming service provides.
