'The Simpsons' Will Also Be Recasting Black Characters With Black Actors
New voices for Carl Carlson, Lou and Dr. Hibbert.
After Hank Azaria stepped away from his role of Kwik-E-Mart owner Apu Nahasapeemapetilon, The Simpsons is now set to recast its black characters, including Carl Carlson, Policeman Lou and Dr. Hibbert.
Although not much has been revealed about the upcoming changes, a statement from the show’s producers notes, “Moving forward, The Simpsons will no longer have white actors voice non-white characters.” News of the upcoming recasting comes after the animation industry began an important move in response to recent events. Most notably, Jenny Slate has come forward to announce her departure from the role of Missy on Big Mouth and Mike Henry has stepped away from his Cleveland Brown character on Family Guy.
