Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics revealed a new trailer for its upcoming title Marvel’s Avengers, showcasing a bit more plot details alongside the game’s newly announced antagonist.

The trailer above showcases characters like Iron Man, The Hulk, Black Widow, and Thor in the wake of Captain America‘s untimely passing five years prior, all facing their own inner personal conflict over the situation. But it also showcases the team’s newest member Ms. Marvel and the villain Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing, also known as M.O.D.O.K. from Marvel Comics.

The footage explains how the floating head antagonist is incorporated into the story and Ms. Marvel’s Inhuman background. It appears George Tarleton, the leader of A.I.M. (Advanced Idea Mechanics) who eventually transforms into M.O.D.O.K, wants to rid the world of superpowers, starting with all the unchecked civilians with hidden abilities. “I will rid the Earth of superpowers,” Tarleton says in the trailer. “Even if it has to end with me.”

During the single-player campaign, players will take on missions as Kamala (aka Ms. Marvel) in an attempt to reunite the Avengers. The video below offers an in-depth look at gameplay specifically centered around Thor. Using Mjolnir and the assistance of fellow Avengers, he battles an army of AIM mechs on a helicarrier.

Marvel’s Avengers will release for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Stadia, and PC on September 4.

In related gaming news, Square Enix recently confirmed Marvel’s Avengers will be available for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
