Soccer Mommy Launches Charity Singles Series With Beabadoobee, Jay Som and More
Net proceeds will go to Oxfam’s COVID relief fund and National Bail Out.

After creating a digital tour in promotion of her new album color theory, Sophie Allison, best known as Soccer Mommy, has launched her Soccer Mommy & Friends Singles Series to raise money for COVID-19 and Black Lives Matter-related organizations. The initiative kicked off with Soccer Mommy and Jay Som releasing covers of each other’s songs. Today, Allison and Beabadoobee are sharing demos of previously released songs, titled “If You Want To” and “night swimming,” respectively.
“I’m excited to be a part of this compilation with Soccer Mommy,” says Beabadoobee. “We met last year in London and have a lot of musical similarities. I’m honored to help in any way with the proceeds going to charities for Covid and BLM. My song on the compilation is an original demo of ‘If You Want To’ recorded in London before recording the full band version.” Allison describes her own song as “stripped back” and “simple.” “It’s not that far off from the album version but it just kind of gets to the core of the song,” she explains.
The Bandcamp net profits from the Soccer Mommy & Friends Singles Series will be split between Oxfam’s COVID-19 relief fund and the National Bail Out collective. Oxfam has an anonymous donor who will match funds raised by the series up to $5,000 USD. In addition to collaborations with Jay Som and Beabadoobee, the new series will feature releases with MGMT’s Andrew VanWyngarden and SASAMI.
