Soccer Mommy Embarks on 8-Bit Virtual Tour
With five “stops” across North America.
Sophie Allison, better known as Soccer Mommy, has embarked on a digital tour in promotion of her new album, color theory. Inspired by the concert she gave on online gaming platform Club Penguin Rewritten earlier this year, Soccer Mommy has created an 8-bit music video “tour,” comprised of individualized music videos for five cities across North America.
The stops on the 8-bit tour include Minneapolis, Austin, Chicago, Seattle and Toronto — all cities she was intending to visit for a traditional tour. The videos, directed by Bella Clark, show Soccer Mommy performing her song “crawling in my skin” in digitzed versions of locations in each city, such as Austin’s famed bat-filled Congress Avenue Bridge.
Soccer Mommy has also used the virtual tour as an opportunity to promote local record shops. For each stop on the tour, the artist has provided links for local record stores to purchase color theory from, including Seattle’s Silver Platters and Austin’s Waterloo Records.
