Independent Record Stores to Host Livestream Fundraiser Event
Move the Record urges everyone to support their local record stores.

Independent record stores all over the world are coming together for Move The Record, a new initiative launched in response to the uncertain future these stores are facing in the wake of recent events.
Helmed by Dana Ruh and KMA60 Berlin, Move The Record will broadcast live, two-hour performance slots of residents and special guests from stores across the globe. Discounts of up to 20 percents will also be available for the participating stores’ online platforms for 48 hours, urging customers to support their local record stores. On top of the discount, viewers can contribute to the initiative by participating in a sweepstakes for a chance to win vinyl, hardware, studio sessions, production courses and merchandise from Ortofon, Ableton, Factory Berlin, Native Instruments, Point Blank Music School, R&S, Pressure Traxx, Mute Records and Warner Music to name a few. All the proceeds will be divided among the participating stores.
“I bought my first record at Undrergrounder in Gera, back in 1995. I still have it. A record is a physical medium, a piece of art — from the music, to the pressing, to the cover design,” Ruh said in a statement. “We all — artists, clubs, labels, distribution, pressing plants — are facing uncertain times as a direct result of the Covid crisis. Our industry is all connected, and many people have already lost their jobs. Clubs are closed; performing artists have lost their primary source of income; record stores — our cultural hubs of community and discovery — are struggling to stay afloat. So on July 3 and 4, myself and 11 other stores around the world will come together to support one another. It’s all connected. We are all connected.”
Move The Record’s first edition will take place from July 3-4. Check out the complete list of participating artists and stores below.
