Nicolas Cage to Play Joe Exotic in New Scripted Series
The ‘Tiger King’ frenzy continues.

Nicolas Cage has signed on to star as Tiger King‘s Joe Exotic in a new scripted series. It’s unsurprising that such a project would be taken on given the viral success of Netflix’s original docuseries.
The show will include eight episodes in total and will be produced by CBS Television Studios and Imagine Television Studios — Cage, himself, will be executive producing the series through Saturn Films. Unlike the hit Netflix docuseries, the story will be based on an article from the magazine Texas Monthly — “Joe Exotic: A Dark Journey Into the World of a Man Gone Wild” by Leif Reigstad — detailing how Joe Schreibvogel became Joe Exotic, who ultimately lead himself far off the rails by his own alter-ego. Dan Lagana will head the story as the lead writer for the series. No exact release dates have been confirmed as the show is still in its early stages of development.
In case you missed it, the Joe Exotic and Carole Baskin saga will continue in a followup Tiger King docuseries.
