The English Premier League has set an intended date for its return from the delay enforced by the coronavirus pandemic. The league and clubs are hopeful that the first games can be played on June 17, over three months since the league was officially paused following a number of players and managers testing positive.

The decision to continue with the league comes after the German Bundesliga restarted on May 16. Leagues in Italy and Spain are also set to return in June.

The first game Premier League games shown will be Manchester City vs. Arsenal and Aston Villa vs. Sheffield United on June 17, before a full round of fixtures the following weekend. All games will be shown on either Sky Sports, BT Sport, BBC Sport or Amazon Prime.

With all teams having either nine or ten games left to play, it is widely expected that Liverpool will take home their first title in 30 years. The team are currently sat 25 points ahead of Manchester City, and wins in two of their remaining fixtures would confirm the victory.

In other sports news, the 2020 Basketball Hall of Fame induction could be postponed.
