PlayStation Reveals New 'The Last of Us Part II' Gameplay Footage
Showcased during their “State of Play” livestream.
Naughty Dog Vice President and The Last of Us Part II director Neil Druckmann has presented new information and gameplay footage during Sony’s State of Play broadcast. The footage above explains some new gameplay mechanics like horse riding, weapon modifications, and new information on the story.
Ellie and Joel have settled in a new community, with the infected threat closed off from the area. There, both characters make bonds with other civilians and enjoy peace, until the settlement is attacked by another group of survivors. Ellie must now venture beyond the walls in seek of retribution.
The game will expand to several different locations new to The Last of Us like Seattle, and weather seasons will change depending on the environment. Ellie can jump and navigate throughout the open areas, allowing her to avoid or tactically attack enemies. Some areas even require boats to access. Although humans appear to be the larger threat in this sequel, new infected have surfaced and guard dogs must now be contended with.
The explanation concluded with eight-minutes of uninterrupted gameplay of Ellie swimming, killing, and avoiding danger.
The Last of Us Part II will be released on June 19 exclusively for PlayStation 4.
In other gaming news, Japan is selling the Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS for under a dollar.
