Charli XCX Drops Homemade "claws" Music Video
Complete with green-screened backgrounds.
Following the release of her her “claws” single, Charli XCX returns with a homemade video for the new track. From her forthcoming “quarantine album,” how i’m feeling now, “claws” is just over two-and-a-half minutes of hook-packed green screen chaos.
Shot by her boyfriend, Huck Kwong, and edited/directed (from a distance) by Charlotte Rutherford, the “claws” video places Charli XCX in front of a green screen inside her New York apartment. Charli XCX dons outfits ranging from a giant shirt to a bikini top and cargo pants to an all-green bodysuit, dancing across butterfly-rich waterfalls, shiny sports cars and an all-over “CHARLI XCX” logo. The spiky production, complete with prodding synth and metallic snare, occasionally drops out for an airy vocal while the video transitions to digital snakes and “XCX”-branded androids.
Watch the “claws” clip above and expect Charli XCX’s how i’m feeling now to launch May 15.
Social distancing cues also inform AJ Tracey and MoStacks’ “Dinner Guest” visual, in which both rappers perform inside an empty club.
