Alienware Turns to AMD for Latest Area-51m Laptop Upgrade
Along with a GPU upgrade.
Along with unveiling two new laptops for its XPS series, Dell has unveiled its latest upgrades for the Alienware Area-51m, a gaming laptop capable of competing against desktop PCs.
Maintaining its 17-inch display — which can now be upgraded to a 300Hz screen with Tobii eye-tracking or 4K support — the Area-51m is now powered by 10th Generation Intel Core processors, the highest-performing option available being the Core i9 10900K 10-core, overclockable to an impressive 5.3GHz. Graphics-wise, Alienware is offering gamers both an AMD and Nvidia option, the former being the Radeon RX 5700 8GB, while the latter goes up to the GeForce RTX 2080 Super 8GB. Keeping in line with its extreme performance, you can also choose up to 64GB of RAM and 4TB of Raid 0 storage. Completing the machine is the brand’s proprietary Cryo-Tech cooling, as well as a new vapor chamber cooling system.
For those looking for a portable gaming workhorse, Alienware’s new Area-51m laptop will arrive on June 9, with a starting price of $3,050 USD.
Elsewhere in tech, Samsung is reportedly releasing a special edition Galaxy Fold Lite.
