adidas ZX8000 "Core Black" Is Swathed in Supple Suede
A masterful material makeover for the timeless Trefoil runner.
adidas Originals has been making apt use of the classic ZX8000 in the spring months, putting forth both compelling in-line colorways and appealing collaborations with the likes of atmos and Metropolitan. Now, the runner-turned-casual design is back in a new “Core Black” colorway that’s swathed in supple suede.
Although the palette is simple, the alternate build makes the “Core Black” enthralling. The ZX8000 almost always uses a sporty mesh, so the flat black suede uppers give off an undeniable air of luxury. They’re also accented by a heel clip with a high-gloss carbon fiber print, dash of hi-vis reflective material on the heel and white contrast stitching on the midfoot’s Three Stripe graphic.
However, the most notable accoutrements of all are a stamped gold foil badge on the tongue and gold lace deubres that read “La Marque aux 3 bandes.” Translated, this reads “The Brand with the Three Stripes,” a long-standing adidas tagline. White midsoles and outsoles with a gold Torsion shank complete the look.
The adidas ZX8000 “Core Black” is available now at retailers like Sneaker District, and is priced at $120 USD.
On the sustainable footwear front, adidas also recently teamed with Allbirds, a partnership that has resulted in a sports shoe with the lowest-ever carbon footprint.
