The Strokes Discuss "Things They Know Nothing About" in New Video Series
In anticipation of their upcoming album, ‘The New Abnormal.’
With the cancellation of their tour to promote their upcoming album The New Abnormal, The Strokes has instead aired the first episode of their “pirate radio series,” 5guys talking about things they know nothing about. The 17-minute debut sees the revered five-piece in a casual setting via video call (to follow social distancing protocols, of course), touching on random topics that come to mind.
There’s no real agenda on discussion, but they do speak on forgetting what their Comedown Machine track “50/50” sounds like, and Albert Hammond, Jr.’s much older idea of an interview similar to Carpool Karaoke and Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee. The band also talks a little about Lizzie Goodman’s oral history Meet Me in the Bathroom, the death of Bill Withers and their confusing experiences with Rolling Stone founder Jann Wenner — ranging from how he accidentally slapped Fab Moretti for being late to a meeting and how he called Julian Casablancas “tone deaf” for having a hole in his eardrum.
Watch the first episode of 5guys talking about things they know nothing about above. The New Abnormal drops April 10.
