Bandai's Metal Build EVA2020 Brought to Life With Meticulously Detailed Parts
Featuring Evangelion Unit-01.
Bandai has unveiled a new iteration of its Metal Build EVA figure, resembling Evangelion Unit-01 from the cult Japanese anime Neon Genesis Evangelion. Back in 2018, Bandai launched its Metal Build series, a premium collection of EVA collectibles that are able to perform various actions — overseen by lead mecha designer Ikuto Yamashita. Fast-forward to this year, Bandai is releasing Unit-01 with some weapons seen from the show.
The piece stands 220mm tall and, aside from its main components, has been meticulously built with a number of nuanced parts, like the umbilical cable, front shin armor, four replacements wrists, and googles, to name a few. Like in the original show, Unit-01 is colored in rich purple, teal and yellow tones, complemented by hits of black, red, silver and gold. The main highlights of this release, however, are all the weapons it comes with: the Magoroku sword, Longinus spear, Progressive knife, and Pallet rifle. The swords and knife come with their mechanical sheaths, while the Pallet rifle comes with an extended barrel and a grenade launcher. The Longinus spear is the last weapon that’s part of the EVA2020. It’s 330mm long, sports a dark red color and sees elongated prongs formed from a double helix that tapers towards the bottom end.
Bandai’s Metal Build EVA2020 will be available on April 10 on Bandai’s website for $262 USD.
