At Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo (C2E2) over the weekend, Marvel Comics and Tsuburaya Productions revealed covers for the Ultraman comics it announced last year.

The covers for the upcoming comics and graphic novels center around a contemporary illustrated take on the classic Japanese superhero. Additionally, the duo revealed that the first release in the collaboration is titled The Rise of Ultraman and released later the year. Marvel notes the series will “revisit the classic first generation of the worldwide phenomenon” and “introduce Ultraman to new fans young and old and revisit the iconic era – and spirit – of the Ultras longtime enthusiasts know and love.”

Take a first look at the covers for Marvel Comics and Tsuburaya Productions Ultraman comic book series above.

In case you missed it, a talented graphic designer recently created retro Japanese posters for modern Hollywood blockbusters.
