ASICS' GEL-LYTE XXX "Modern Tokyo" Combines Heritage Details With Futuristic Proportions

ASICS expands its esteemed GEL-LYTE range with the release of the XXX “Modern Tokyo”, an all-new silhouette that combines heritage with futuristic details.

The GEL-LYTE XXX combines a modernized take on the GEL-LYTE OG shape with a unique, cubist-like sole unit. Its upper sports a mixture of leather and mesh, as well as rubberized and plastic detailing that covers the toe box and sections of the mid-panel.

ASICS continues the heritage theme with a leather GEL-branded heel tab, but then contrasts this with the bold, graphic-printed sole unit. This black-and-white component is adorned with stripes, coordinates and a futuristic font that informs of the sneaker’s name, and continues beyond the rear of the shoe with a glossy black segment sticking out.

There are plenty of premium finishing touches to be spotted all around the shoe, from its XXX stitching on the eyestay serving as a nod to the sneaker’s name, to the branded disc sitting atop of the tongue.
