ASICS GEL-Kayano 5 KZN Goes Tropical
A mix of “Orange Pop” and “Fresh Ice” hues complete with signature GEL cushioning.
ASICS‘ GEL-Kayano 5 KZN combines the upper of an OG GEL-Lyte 5 with a modernized GEL midsole, and it’s now surfaced in a tropical new style that mixes “Orange Pop” and “Fresh Ice” accents. Significantly more colorful in style than the recent “Box of Chocolates” iteration that released for Valentine’s Day, this vibrant hybrid is decidedly ready for spring and summer’s warm breezes.
Uppers spare no expense and waste no space putting forth bold tones. These encompass everything from a gradient fade on the midfoot to mango orange and neon yellow overlays, plus a piece of black patent leather that extends from heel to quarter. Where the forefoot is mostly sunny, the heel brings down the temperature a notch with a duo of blue hues: a rich navy and a cool aqua. For another interesting touch, the fully translucent tiger stripes add beachfront-esque pink and blue accents, while flecked orange laces with metal tips finish things off.
Down below, midsoles use visible blue GEL cushioning blocks in the heel that combine with soft speckled EVA foam in the forefoot for lightweight comfort and support. This footbed offers a streamlined shape, and is sandwiched in place by a two-tone rubber outsole.
The ASICS GEL-Kayano 5 KZN is available now at retailers like KITH for $130 USD.
