ASICS Brings Back OG 1989 Colors With GEL-Lyte XXX
“Citrus” & “Coral.”

Last year, ASICS resurrected its OG “Citrus” colorway to celebrate the 30th anniversary of its GEL-Lyte III silhouette. The bold color scheme harkens all the way back to the shoe’s initial 1989 release, which was accompanied by its warm-toned “Coral” counterpart. Fast-forward to today, the Japanese footwear label is trying something new. It’s bringing back both the retro colorways, originally seen on the GEL-Lyte III, and placing them on a fresh set of GEL-Lyte XXXs.
The “Citrus” iteration of the new silhouette comes with a bevy of modern details that optimizes stability and comfort. Starting at the top, the shoe boasts a bright lime-tinged tongue that comes with a light, semi-translucent overlay and subtle “ASICS” branding. Striped fluorescent rope laces cover the central forefoot — further neon highlights continue along the collars and heel counter. Offsetting the bright accents is a crisp white body, reinforced with batted nylon. ASICS’ signature side stripes appear along the sidewalls with dark green outlines, complemented by a leather heel support panel and a contrasting toecap. All of these details sit atop an articulated gray midsole, equipped with essential FlyteFoam Lyte technology for a responsive feel. The “Coral” counterpart comes with all the same design features as the aforementioned pair, except colored in fluorescent orange with black accents.
The GEL-Lyte XXX “Citrus” and “Coral” are currently available at atmos’ website for $121 USD.
