Y-3 FW20 Lends Tailored Sophistication to Sportswear
Yohji Yamamoto’s signature slouchy silhouettes inform function-driven wearables.

Perhaps Y-3‘s best known output is its distinctive footwear — unsurprising, considering the brand’s adidas backing. However, the brand’s clever clothing, often effortlessly incorporating function into accessible silhouettes, deserves equal praise, demonstrated nattily by its Fall/Winter 2020 range.
Yohji Yamamoto remains Y-3’s creative director, guiding the label to infuse his signature muted color palette with updated technical staples. Black layered coats, puffy liner jackets and cargo pants complement essential Y-3 accessories, like branded belts and hats, with surprising color provided by printed parkas and graphic T-shirts, which include Yamamoto’s name and even his cartoonish likeness. Quilted scarves, striped lanyards and belted sweaters offset the weather-fighting wares with immediately-apparent visual appeal, and an assortment of new Y-3 sneakers below ensure comfort.
Sign up for updates on Y-3’s latest drops via adidas’ site, and expect FW20 to hit stockists like SSENSE later this year.
Most recently, Yamamoto’s Y’s sub-label linked with New Era for a minimalist capsule range.
