NBA All-Star Weekend may be well over, but Nike Sportswear isn’t done paying homage to the Windy City yet as a Chicago-themed VaporMax Plus has released. Teased for roughly a month but just recently making its official debut on the Nike webstore, this Air Max Plus and VaporMax hybrid tells its tale by way of a Chicago flag-themed color palette.
Shaped from a white synthetic material, uppers give off a textured flair that’s accented by light powder blue TPU overlays. Snaking up the midfoot and coming to rest as eyestays, these pieces are complimented further by light blue toe bumpers, tongue trim and heel counters. Bright red is used as a secondary accenting color, appearing in hi-vis reflective stripes down the throat, around the tongue and on the heel tab/small heel Swooshes. Rectangular tongue tags and a modified Air Max Plus-style heel badge add extra branding.
Soft blue Cushlon foam is present on the midsole, and acts as a buffer between the upper and ever-so-slightly tinted VaporMax cushioning unit. Red and black rubber pieces on the outsole provide a final dash of style.
The Nike VaporMax Plus “Chicago” is available now via Nike’s online store, and is priced at $200 USD.
