Medhane and His Alter Ego AFB Release "Dan Freeman" Music Video
His self-produced ‘Full Circle’ project is just around the corner.
Fresh of his new single “Myrtle” featuring a guest spot from North Carolina rapper MAVI and production from Pro Era affiliate Chuck Strangers, Brooklyn emcee Medhane has dropped a new music video from his upcoming project Full Circle in “Dan Freeman.” The track alludes to the 1969 novel and following 1973 film The Spook Who Sat by the Door by Sam Greenlee and its protagonist, the first black CIA officer Dan Freeman.
Produced by Medhane’s alter ego AFB, the track utilizes an hypnotic reversed sample flip to match the X-ray-esque cinematography by Christopher Currence. The rapper’s swagger is palpable as he waxes about his destiny aligning, being an unmovable force in the hip-hop game and overcoming days filled with depression. “Stay expending energy/ Won’t let that anger get the best of me/ Steady speed, let me be, let me dream/ Know what pressure bring, gettin’ free/ Framing memories/ Let the tension ease/ Breathe deeply/ Prolly missin’ when you need me/ Throwin’ shade it never reach me/ Game easy,” he raps in the opening verse.
“Dan Freeman” also features additional production was handled by Iblss. Earlier this year, Medhane released “DOLOMEALS”, a quick-hitting single that followed him around his neighborhood complete with an instrumental by Nicholas Craven. His next project, Full Circle is set to release later this month.
