IDK's New "Lilly" Music Video Deals with the Trappings of Fame
From his debut studio album ‘Is He Real?’
Maryland-based rapper IDK impressed with his major label debut Is He Real? released back in September 2019. In just 35-minutes, IDK managed to get Tyler, the Creator to question his personal philosophy and theology strictly via interlude, dug deep into family trauma and provided his audience with a thoughtful offering that still managed to pack production worthy of head-nodding throughout the 14 tracks. After releasing the music video for “Hello Freestyle (Pt. 4)” produced by JPEGMAFIA to kickoff his 2020, IDK returns with the new visual for “Lilly.”
Directed by Matt Zolly and produced by Snow-Beach LLC, the video centers around a rapidly-aging runaway bride still in her wedding dress. The song deals with IDK’s outlook on becoming a rapper and falling into the cliches of fame, paying for past sins of living an ignorant lifestyle blinded by money and the women that have since followed because of his bank account.
“Don’t chase fast hoes, it don’t work like that/ If a rich n*gga flirt, they gon’ flirt right back/ They gon’ kiss you on the mouth/ They gon’ tell you you the one/ If you let a h* free, guarantee they’ll run, like/ I am not a fan of the bullsh*t/ 20/20 vision right through sh*t, wow/ I’ll step on your heart and abuse it/ Like who the h*ll you thought that you was usin’?” IDK raps as the chorus, as the video’s plot twist is revealed right before the ending credits.
