DaBaby's "Shut Up" Music Video Is a Wild Super Bowl Weekend Ride
3 days in Miami, 14 sold-out shows, $1 million USD.
DaBaby dominated 2019 with two major projects, first with Baby on Baby helping to solidify the Charlotte, North Carolina rapper as a name to watch in the hip-hop world then with KIRK by the year’s end. His second album of the year skyrocketed to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and saw every single song chart on the Hot 100. In less than a year, Baby had become one of the biggest names in the rap world. Now he returns with his Reel Goats production collaborators to document his Super Bowl Weekend for “Shut Up.” The concept is simple: DaBaby spends 3 days in Miami, playing 14 shows and making $1 million USD. He even brings some friends along for the ride.
“Dear 2020, my name is Jonathan but people call me “Baby.” Now I know what me and 2019 had was special, but that’s nothing compared to what I have planned for you girl. I was gonna wait till Valentine’s Day and be player about it but f*ck it, I’ma go head and let you know now… you’re mine for the next 10 months and 22 days,” the opening credits read. The camera follows a candid-as-ever DaBaby as he links with Diddy for some pre-show inspiration and the likes of Kanye West, Meek Mill, and Shaq even make appearances. Baby even reunites with the Jabbawockeez for a live rendition of his “BOP on Broadway” visual.
