UPDATE (March 23, 2020): Fear of God Essentials and Converse have prepared three takes on the Chuck 70: “Black/Egret,” “Ivory/Black” and tan. Both the “Black/Egret” and “Ivory/Black” pairs are adjacent to makeups that originally released — and quickly sold out — in 2018, while the tan pair offers a completely new style.

Medial/lateral sides and heels are constructed of canvas on each pair, with toeboxes and throats equipping supple leather for a luxurious contrast. The extra-long laces are meant to be wrapped around the collar Rick Owens Geobasket-style, and are secured by an extended heel tab. Converse star logos on the medial collar, Fear of God branding on each heel and high-gloss rubber midsoles complete the look.

Expect the “Black/Egret” and “White/Black” makeups to hit retailers like Sneakersnstuff on March 26, retailing for $110 USD. Release info for the tan pair has not yet been announced, but it may be a PacSun exclusive and will likely feature the same price point and details as its counterparts.

ORIGINAL STORY (February 20, 2020): Jerry Lorenzo‘s Fear of God Essentials and Converse have joined forces again, crafting a new black/egret take on the Chuck 70 Hi that’s an inverse of 2018’s egret/black style. With the elegant construction and natural tones Fear of God‘s footwear collaborations have become known for, the shoes combine a classic sport-focused look with a touch of high-street elegance.

Using a colorblocking scheme similar to 2016’s FOG x Vans Sk8-Hi collaboration, this high-top Chuck 70 equips black canvas for the lateral and medial panels while switching to a supple egret leather on the tongue and throat. This juxtaposition of divergent materials is spotlighted further by a high-gloss egret rubber toe cap plus extra-long egret laces — meant to be wrapped around the collar and secured by a pull tab on the heel.

Further accents are provided by a classic Converse star logo on the medial collar, bright silver eyelets and black trim/foxing on the midsole. Rubberized heel badges alternate embellishments between the left and right foot, with the former using a Fear of God Essentials graphic and the latter retaining its regular Converse stamp. Cream outsoles complete the look.

The Fear of God Essentials x Converse Chuck 70 Hi “Black/Egret” will release at retailers like Solebox on March 26 for $110 USD.

Moving from FOG to fragment, Hiroshi Fujiwara‘s brand recently linked up with Moncler and Converse for a white Chuck 70 Low.
