Belgian architect Bernard Dubois and Spanish designer Isaac Reina will showcase a collaborative furniture collection at MANIERA gallery later this month. Comprised of eight different objects — including a folding screen, desk, lamp and chairs — the sleek collection blends Dubois’ sense of bold geometric forms and surprising shapes with Reina’s eye for sensuous and highly tactile material.
The pieces from the collection reflect both Dubois and Reina’s simple yet elegant designs — devoid of any unnecessary details. Each object is crafted in wood then covered in natural or black tanned leather for a refined appearance. Playing with straight and curved lines, the objects reflect the complex relationship between surface and volume. Ambiguous in their appearance and functionality, the collection is both playful and strict; contemporary and timeless; monumental and minimalist.
Take a closer look at Dubois and Reina’s designs in the gallery above. The furniture collection will be on view at MANIERA from February 19 to May 9.
