After launching a collaborative figurine over the summer, Mobile Suit Gundam and Hello Kitty are back in business with a range of collaborative apparel. As Gundam and Kitty finish up their 40th and 45th anniversary celebrations, respectively (technically, Gundam‘s was in 2019), Japanese otaku apparel line R4G (“Respect For Geeks”) has imagined a playful set of wearables that hybridize imagery from each imprint, yielding a lighthearted assortment just in time for the year’s end.
Comprising a plethora of illustrative and graphic goods, the partnership sees a host of black and white layering pieces elevated by the adorable eponymous star of Hello Kitty and imagery sourced from Mobile Suit Gundam. Key pieces include a black parka imprinted with “RX-78-2- HELLO KITTY,” a special paint-flecked print and a collectible pin, plus a velvet track jacket and pant set elevated with the key characters’ stenciled heads.
Along with various hoodies, a work jacket and totes, several understated tees see Kitty planted in front of a few memorable Gundam moments, as if she’s actually watching them herself.
