Watch The Official Life-Size Gundam Opening Ceremony
At 10x speed, it looks like the real deal.
The official opening ceremony for the Gundam Factory Yokohama has just taken place. After months of teasing and testing the incredible 1/1-scale Gundam in Japan, the full “life-size” Gundam was seen doing all its moves coupled with a live music/light show.
Present at the ceremony was Gundam creator Yoshiyuki Tomino who ushered in the franchise’s 40th anniversary while standing behind the six-story mecha. The director expressed just how impressed he was that the Gundam was successfully built in Japan, and what an undertaking it was. He even jokingly expressed interest in creating a life-sized version of a Zaku for the 50th anniversary.
What’s also interesting is that one Twitter user pointed out that at 10x speed, the footage looks like the real deal. Check out the video below for the official ceremony and play the tweet below to see the Gundam sped up.
