Tesla's Stock Jumps 6% Ahead of S&P 500 Debut

Tesla shares (TSLA) jumped to a record high of $695 USD (up six percent) just an hour before Friday’s closing. The stock continued trading during after-hours where more than 200 million shares exchanged hands leading to a small drop of three percent.
This news comes ahead of Tesla’s official inclusion into the S&P 500 this coming Monday. This impressive movement roughly translates to trading volume four times higher than Tesla’s 30-day average of 45 million — that’s $131 billion USD worth of stock exchanging hands.
It will be interesting to see come Monday, Tesla’s first closing price after its historic addition into the S&P 500.
