At Louis Vuitton, Virgil Abloh Leans Into Functionality
With the second installment of the house’s LV2054 lifestyle line.

For the second installment of its “2054” line, Louis Vuitton artistic director Virgil Abloh takes the label’s relationship with functional fashion to a new level.
Making its debut in 2019, LV2054 is the fashion house’s luxury lifestyle line dedicated to experimenting with performance and technology. This season the offering clarifies this message and extends its reach with a multi-climatic collection derived from methods used in professional skiwear.
The multi-faceted textures of nylon set a tone that riffs on futuristic notes and extreme sports, while green and black prints evoke the luminosity of night vision and a multi-colored pattern imitates the infrared effects of heat vision.
Padded jackets and trousers form a reworked ski suit that’s both water repellent and breathable, while an iridescent shell tracksuit matches that of a silvery puffer jacket and a padded T-shirt. Invoking Louis Vuitton’s technique of compressor morphosis, a shirt self-compresses into a cross-body bag, an ability echoed in waterproof bags of body-adaptable volumes with extendable and removable pockets.
This season also debuts a technical black runner with bright color detailing and reflective effects. Identifiable by its own branding, LV2054 features three-dimensional Louis Vuitton logos and an updated take on the classic monogram.
LV2054 will be available in Louis Vuitton stores worldwide and its online webstore from December 4.
