New York-based label Bode has released a new video in partnership with the International Woolmark Prize, showing the process of creating the brand’s Winter 2020 2020 collection. A particular focus is the Woolmark Prize collection, which saw designer Emily Adams Bode win the inaugural Karl Lagerfeld Award for Innovation earlier this year.

The video sees Bode explain the influence of her friend Benjamin Bloomstein on the collection, particularly the relationship between alternative education, agricultural communities and sustainability. Additionally Bode goes on to discuss the use of Merino wool and the manufacturing process of the collection, highlighting the women-owned and run factory in Brooklyn the brand works with on knitting and the factory founded in 1925 with whom the label produces its trousers.

Concluding the video, Emily Adams Bode discusses her philosophy and the label’s focus on the wearability of its pieces. “I’ve always wanted to make clothing that people could live in, and feel comfortable in, and allow people to to shape their own understanding of aesthetics and shaper their own domestic space and help them create a world.”

Bode’s Winter 2020 collection, including the Woolmark Prize-winning items, are available now from the brand’s web store and select stockists. For more information on how the collection was produced, head over to the International Woolmark Prize’s site.
