BAIT Readies an 'Initial D' Apparel Capsule for Fans
Accompanied by its upcoming Casio G-SHOCK DW5600 collaboration.
Shortly after revealing its Casio G-SHOCK Initial D DW5600 watch collaboration, BAIT has now unveiled an accompanying apparel collaboration. The special range of street staples is centered around scenes from Shuichi Shigeno’s Japanese street racing manga series that has spawned various anime adaptations, wildly popular arcade game and a live-action movie.
Leading the capsule is a hoodie/T-shirt that shows protagonist Takumi Fujiwara drifting on Akina pass in his iconic Toyota Sprinter Trueno AE86 and a hoodie/T-shirt style with an illustration of Natsuki Mogi posing in front of the 86. Other standouts include a crewneck/T-shirt design with the BAIT logo obscured by the AE86 and underscored by notation for Bunta Fujiwara’s 藤原とうふ店 Fujiwara tōfu-ten (Fujiwara Tofu Store). Rounding up the capsule is a classic Initial D T-shirt, T-shirt emblazoned with bikini-clad Impact Blue SilEighty girls Mako Sato and Sayuki and a corduroy Initial D cap.
Releasing alongside the Casio G-SHOCK Initial DW5600 Watch, the Initial x BAIT apparel capsule will be available on BAIT’s website and at all BAIT US chapter stores with a BAIT Japan release to follow.
Earlier this month Sega announced Initial D The Arcade, the follow-up to the current Initial D Arcade Stage Zero cabinet in arcades. Aside from introducing four-player races, the next installment in the arcade series will feature a new story mode with a plot supervised by original creator, Shuichi Shigeno.
Newly revamped player avatars will be brought into cutscenes depicted with a manga-like monochromic shader. Players can also expect new cars, customization parts from Pandem and Rocket Bunny and an original Eurobeat soundtrack produced by A-One. Initial D The Arcade is set to launch in Japanese arcades come Spring 2021.
