This past Sunday, NFL teams participated in another batch of gridiron games for Week 11 of the regular season, two of which were the Cincinnati Bengals and the Washington Football Team. The game had flown fairly smoothly up until just over three minutes of play into the second half in which Joe Burrow — rookie quarterback for the Bengals — went down with an apparent knee injury and needed to be carted off the field.

Yesterday, early reports had already hinted that the severity of the blow was likely to be extremely high, but as Sportscenter confirmed today via Adam Schefter, Burrow tore both his ACL and MCL, in addition to incurring other structural issues in his left knee. Prior to the blow, the 2020 #1 overall draft pick’s rookie season had been promising over the first 10 games, as he filled up the stat sheet with nearly 2,700 passing yards at a 65.3% completion rate.

Before the game concluded yesterday, Burrow took to Twitter to send a message to his fans by stating, “Thanks for all the love. Can’t get rid of me that easy. See ya next year.”

For additional news relevant to sports, the NBA has announced their plans for the layout of the 2020-2021 season.
