Revealed today by ESPN contributor Nick DePaula, Miami Heat superstar Jimmy Butler has inked a multi-year shoe deal with Chinese sportswear imprint Li-Ning. Exact details of the partnership have yet to be announced, but it is confirmed that this signing would allow Butler to become the face of the brand.

Early in the Houston-born baller’s career, “Jimmy Buckets” was sponsored by adidas before eventually transferring over to the Jordan Brand family in which he held a spot on their hoops roster from 2014 to early 2020. It was reported back in January of this year that Butler had officially cut ties with the Jumpman and was in negotiation stages with multiple brands, but he remained a sneaker free agent throughout the latter half of the 2019-2020 NBA season where he led the Heat to the NBA Finals down in the Orlando bubble. Given that Dwayne Wade is also under contract with Li-Ning — a lifetime contract, that is — it is more than likely that he played a pivotal role in luring the two-way guard into the family as well.

Stay tuned for further information regarding this newly-emerged partnership as it is very possible that we’ll see special colorways and signature sneaker releases down the road.
