UMAMIISM's SS21 Visuals Capture a Psychedelic Americana
Titled “Nomads in Paradise Lost.”

UMAMIISM has drawn inspiration from Americana for its its Spring/Summer 2021 collection, offering an eclectic range of styles imbued with Western influences and hi-tech designs. This follows the label’s SS20 “City Romance” lineup which saw a dramatically different direction that was focused on oversized streetwear with a utilitarian edge; the newest collection is more refined, luxe and tailored.
Dubbed “Nomads in Paradise Lost,” SS21 follows a loose narrative centered around overcoming the feeling of helplessness caused by the COVID-19 pandemic through positivity: calm and light palettes, like beige, white, peach and blue, are set against dark shades like black and gray to reflect this idea. One noteworthy piece is a light brown jacket constructed with a finely textured fabric of a wool-linen blend. Zippers are placed along the shoulders, complemented by frayed seams at the armholes while contrasting orange buttons complete the piece. Another highlight is a short-sleeve button-up emblazoned with a soft, pastel-toned pattern of paint splatters. Other pieces like distressed knitwear, embroidered shirts, deconstructed bomber jackets and linen pants round off the expansive assemblage.
