UMAMIISM Evokes a "City Romance" in SS20 Collection
Light jackets, short sleeves & more for the warmer months ahead.

After delivering its range of oversized layering pieces for the Fall/Winter 2019 season, UMAMIISM is now unveiling its lookbook for the warmer spring and summer months. Comprised of light apparel in a vibrant color palette of blues, oranges and greens, the collection is centered around the theme “City Romance,” drawing inspiration from a song by the Taiwanese band Sweet John.
Imagining the outdoors in the city and taking inspiration from the themes of cartoons and animations, UMAMIISM builds a collection of oversized kimono-style jackets, short sleeve shirts, multi-functional vests and zip-up trousers. Merging functionality with aesthetics, a T-shirt is transformed into a basketball vest, a gingham vest turns into a backpack-like silhouette with multiple pockets and straps, and a pair of loose shorts boast a fanny pack design on its back.
Key pieces from the SS20 range include a jacket with a print of people floating in the summer evening sky under umbrellas and retro colorblocked shirts with large front pockets. Technical upgrades, such as multiple pockets and zip detailing, give the collection a utilitarian aesthetic, contrasting with the garments’ spring-colored hues.
Check out the SS20 lookbook above and expect the collection to drop soon on UMAMIISM’s website.
