Anya Taylor-Joy to Join Chris Hemsworth in 'Mad Max' Prequel 'Furiosa'
Playing a young version of the titular character.

American-Argentine-British actress Anya Taylor-Joy has been cast as Furiosa for the upcoming prequel to Mad Max: Fury Road, aptly titled Furiosa.
The project was first announced last year and confirmed earlier this May by Mad Max director George Miller. Taylor-Joy, whose previous works include Emma, Split, and Glass, will be portraying a younger version of the protagonist Furiosa, who was played by Charlize Theron in 2015’s Mad Max: Fury Road. Miller originally entertained the idea of casting Theron again and using de-aging effects to bring her back from 44 years old to her 20s, but ultimately decided against it, instead opting to cast Taylor-Joy instead, who is 24.
Alongside the actress, joining the cast will be Marvel veteran Chris Hemsworth and Aquaman actor Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, though no information has been offered yet regarding their roles in the film. Miller will once again be directing and will co-write and co-produce Furiosa with his long-standing partner Doug Mitchell under his own Australian-based banner Kennedy Miller Mitchell, as well as Fury Road collaborator Warner Bros. Pictures.
There’s no release date yet for the upcoming film, so fans of the Mad Max franchise should definitely stay tuned for more updates to come.
Elsewhere in entertainment, the Coming to America sequel may be coming to Amazon Prime Video.
