Modder Creates Custom GameCube Joy-Cons For the Nintendo Switch
It’s even split-screen enabled.
Gaming hardware modder Shank has created custom GameCube Joy-Cons for the Nintendo Switch.
The enthusiast toredown a wireless GameCube Wavebird controller for the body due to its equal length to the Switch and bulky build, which is needed space for the extra parts. It’s also fitted with extra buttons needed to assume full functionality over the console, such as a Home button and shoulder buttons to split the Joy-Cons apart and play shared-screen multiplayer. Shank admits that smooth handling when split apart is about as awkward as you’d expect.
The modder also intends to provide CAS files for folks looking to build their own version, although it will be a bit complicated for newcomers to the DIY hardware space. He also cautions that the modification process consists of a lot of 3D- printing, electrical challenges, and more.
