Will Smith & Martin Lawrence Talk About Their Cultural Influence
The two comedic icons discuss how each of their respective sitcoms had such a major impact.
With the highly-anticipated Bad Boys for Life approaching theaters this week, stars and footwear icons Martin Lawrence and Will Smith are the latest guests on Sneaker Shopping. Through both of their influential shows — The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and Martin – the two have contributed to some of footwear’s most hottest trends.
In this episode, Will gives a nod to Run DMC and their iconic fat laces for the reason he began wearing his Air Jordan 5s without laces. Meanwhile, Martin is part of the legendary scene from Spike Lee’s Do The Right Thing, in which Buggin Out’s Air Jordan 4s get stepped on. Nike even acknowledged the moment’s importance by releasing an exclusive Air Jordan 4 with a slight scuff.
Speaking of Nike, the two comedic icons also talk about how LeBron James payed tribute to Martin last year by releasing the titular LeBron 16‘s on his birthday. At the end of the episode, both stars end up buying roughly $8,400 USD on sneakers.
