Will Smith Unboxes Laceless Air Jordan 5 "Fresh Prince" & Special "Friends & Family" Pair
In celebration of the Fresh Prince’s 50th birthday.
Last month we shared news regarding the rumor of a laceless Air Jordan 5 honoring Will Smith‘s style on The Fresh Prince of Bel Air. Today the legendary actor has confirmed that we can expect the pair to release this month via his “first unboxing.” The model shares the same color scheme as the famed “Grape” colorway we’ve seen retro a few times in the past. Its lace holes have been sealed shut with the addition of “West Philadelphia” subtly found on the tongue above its netting. The insole also pays homage to the hit show with pink and green stripes and Air Jordan done in the shows retro typeface.
In addition, Smith shared a first look at an Air Jordan 5 NRG “Fresh Prince” Friends & Family edition limited to 23 pairs. The exclusive pair swaps out its original white upper for reflective gold and contrasting black laces. The laceless Air Jordan 5 “Fresh Prince” arrives on September 25 via select Jordan Brand retailers while the Friends and Family iteration will not be available for sale. Fortunately Will Smith has joined forces with a few partners to celebrate his birthday and give 23 lucky winners the chance to own the gold pair.
