Rick Owens' Intricately-Laced Maximal Runner Returns in Blacked-Out Version
You can never have too many laces.
Rick Owens has released a blacked-out pair of the Maximal Runner spotted at the designer’s Spring/Summer 2020 “TECUATL” Paris Fashion Week runway show.
This offering follows a minimalist beige pair that released late last year, this time around reintroducing Owens’ iconic “Lord of Darkness” aesthetic. The avant-garde sneakers intricately combine a mixture of smooth leather, suede, rubber and cotton materials throughout its design, which is dominated by a myriad of laces wrapping around the angular design.
These laces are strung through metal eyelets and toggles placed all around the sneaker, further adding to the bondage-like look. Rick Owens adds a touch of color in the form of a cream canvas tongue tab, giving reference to the designer’s signature stripe logo, and finished the pair with an angular sole unit that is complete with a jagged outsole.
