Segway Unveils First-Ever Electric Motorbike Concept, the APEX
Sending it around the race track.
Segway and its recently acquired subsidiary company Ninebot have revealed the APEX, an all-new electric motorbike concept that could soon change the world of superbikes.
The Segway APEX forms part of the company’s move into an Intelligent Mobility Product Line, which introduces other two-wheeled machines such as the soon-to-debut Ninebot eMoped and Ninebot eScooter. For now, the APEX is just a concept, however, rumors are circulating that the electric motorbike could be based on the Yamaha R6’s chassis — making for a great lightweight sports bike.
Images and videos give away very little clues as to what to expect, although we can see it lacks a left clutch shifter and has no gear shifter, alluding to a single-speed transmission. And, as Asphalt & Rubber reports, it is said that the Segway APEX can hit 0-60 MPH in 2.9 seconds and continue on to 125 MPH. Take a closer look at the Segway APEX on the track above.
