After releasing his jewelry collaboration with Charlotte Chesnais, Byredofounder Ben Gorham has partnered with Peak Performance for a functional outdoors collection for Spring/Summer 2020. Named “Possessions of My Soul,” the collection was inspired by a hike through Riksgränsen, an area of Sweden that sits more than 200km into the Arctic Circle.
The SS20 collection is designed to cover all possible weather conditions, with a focus on packability and lightweight pieces. Throughout the collection — which mixes technical fabrics and merino wools — pieces are constructed in a range of colors influenced by the rock formations and mountains around the Riksgränsen area.
The collection features everything from weather-resistant outerwear to caps, with Gorham and Peak Performance intending to make pieces that are multi-functional. Additionally, the design process has seen the items made and dyed with a focus on sustainability, marking Peak Performance’s respect for nature and the environment.”
Speaking about the collection, Gorham explained why he wanted to work on an outdoors-themed collection. “I’d never really been exposed to nature before, until I got into skiing, climbing and cold-water surfing and it really opened my mind to a different lifestyle. There is something liberating with outdoor culture and nature that connects me to myself. It’s the closest thing to meditation I know.”
Take a look through the lookbook in the gallery above, and expect the pieces to release via the Peak Performance web store soon.
