HOMME PLISSÉ Issey Miyake FW20 Is One Big Pleated Party
Comfortable garments befitting an inclusive performance.
Issey Miyake‘s HOMME PLISSÉ menswear line embraced bold color and pattern for Fall/Winter 2020, playing off of the easygoing nature of the line’s signature pleated garments. What resulted was a playful, color-rich assortment of clean lines and deconstructed tailoring, elevated by a live musical performance and pleated suits, complete with tails.
Kicking things off with color-blocked pleated suits, the HOMME PLISSÉ presentation toyed with proportion by way of knee-length coats, cropped blazers, tunic shirts, shorts and chukka sneakers all mismatched for extra aggressive hues. Splashes of disparate tones affected the garments worn by the band, eventually giving way to more adventurous shapes — immense parkas divided into triangular portions — and laid-back items like berets and elastic hem pants. Some patterned coats and pants segued into the final section, which began with colorful trench coats and transitioned to single-tone tuxedos, with angular bow ties and clean white shirts for a sophisticated finish.
Elsewhere at Paris Fashion Week, we experienced Fall/Winter 2020 offerings from the likes of SANKUANZ, Dries Van Noten and Kiko Kostadinov.
