Near the end of the one-and-a-half-minute long clip, Black Widow (portrayed by Scarlett Johansson) finds herself battling Taskmaster. This sequence has also given fans their best look at the antagonist, including the character’s revamped design and iconic “T” shield.
To date, it hasn’t been confirmed who is playing Taskmaster. Rachel Weisz, who stars as Red Room trainer Melina, is rumored to secretly be the film’s villain, previously thought to be O-T Fagbenle of The Handmaid’s Tale. The special look also gives fans a look at Natasha’s journey in becoming Black Widow, along with new looks at Oscar nominee Florence Pugh‘s Yelena Belova, and David Harbour‘s Red Guardian.
Black Widow will mark the first chapter of Marvel Cinematic Universe‘s Phase 4, and the first standalone film for the hero.
Black Widow takes place after the events of Captain America: Civil War and releases May 1, 2020. Johansson first stepped into the role of the deadly assassin in 2010’s Iron Man 2.
