AURALEE Launches Lush SS20 New Balance COMP100 Collaboration
Premium retro sneakers accompanied by seamless sweaters.

As AURALEE prepares to take its signature minimalist stylings international for Spring/Summer 2020, the Japanese label has rejoined New Balance Japan for another appreciably understated sneaker. The COMP100, a recently-revived retro style, is an effortless fit for AURALEE’s low-key garments, executed in premium leather and accented by co-branded wearables.
New Balance’s COMP100 debuted in 1978 and became a quick favorite with runners, with five of the top ten runners from 1979’s Boston Marathon sporting the silhouette. Today, the model is less coveted than New Balance’s other timeless trainers, but AURALEE isn’t concerned with trends. Offered in two plush grain leather makeups, the sneakers are offered in light and dark beige colorways, with embossed branding on the tongue and tonal midsoles reinforcing the Japanese brand’s understated motif.
Accompanying the two runners is a set of lightweight garments: long- and short-sleeved “WHOLEGARMENT” pullovers and slouchy track pants. Each sweater is crafted from breathable cotton knit that forgoes seams for an effortless, breezy fit, sporting elastic ribbing at the hem for a generous fit. The drawstring trousers, meanwhile, utilize a tougher cotton weave for water resistance and quick-drying properties. All the garments boast co-branding and special reflective yarns woven into the rear for heightened visibility at night.
AURALEE’s New Balance collaboration launches exclusively at Japanese AURALEE stores, New Balance Roppongi and UNITED ARROWS on February 8.
Elsewhere in Japan, more international collaborations are afoot: Sunspel is launching a series of remixed essentials designed by the likes of 45R, N.HOOLYWOOD and BEAMS.
