Thom Browne's Inaugural Fragrance Line Is Gender Neutral
Informed by a signature blend of vetyver extracts.

Thom Browne has been pushing the boundaries of traditional suiting since 2001, but its unique worldview hadn’t included a signature scent — until now. With the help of Swiss fragrance maker Givaudan, the brand is set to launch a collection of six gender neutral fragrances centered around a main note of vetyver.
“I wanted these scents to be iconic, and for me an iconic fragrance, especially one that crosses for both men and women, is a vetyver,” Browne told Vogue. Browne and Givaudan laced three different vetyver extracts including Haitian Vetyver oil to create a custom accord that is found throughout the range in various potencies.
Vetyver Absolute is described as the most “pure,” as it features the strongest amount of the signature vetyver blend. Following Vetyver Absolute are Cucumber 01, Grapefruit 02, and Rose 03, three light scents designed with daytime wear in mind. Whiskey 04 and Smoke 05 complete the set, bringing an edgy smokiness intended to be worn at night. Each perfume is titled 09.27.65 (Browne’s birthday), followed by numbers 01 to 06 to distinguish the models. For example, Cucumber 01 is presented as “09.27.65.01.” “I appreciate people that are drawn to a signature for themselves,” continues Browne. “That’s why we wanted to develop more than one fragrance.”
The inaugural fragrance collection will be available at Thom Browne stores, Thom Browne’s website and Dover Street Market locations in early October.
Elsewhere, Off-White™‘s SS20 runway show brought a “meteor shower” to Paris Fashion Week in Virgil Abloh‘s absence.
