Samsung Galaxy Fold Gets Official Release Dates in the U.S. (UPDATE)

UPDATE: Following the announcement of the updated Samsung Galaxy Fold releasing in select regions, it has now been announced the new handheld will be hitting the U.S. September 27.

The Galaxy Fold will be available in two versions, an AT&T version located at selected AT&T stores, and an Unlocked version located at select Best Buy and Samsung Experience stores. Both versions of the smartphone, however, will be available at select Best Buy stores and Samsung Experience retail spaces.

ORIGINAL UPDATE (Sep 5, 2019): According to Engadget, Samsung is canceling all of its pre-orders for Galaxy Fold from its online store in order to “rethink the entire customer experience.” The cancelation ranges from the actual purchases to after-sale support like its recently-announced Premier Service, which offers customer support for consumers of the product 24/7.

Pre-order customers, however, will receive $250 USD in credit. If you still want a Galaxy fold as early as possible, customers must go through the pre-registration process again.

ORIGINAL STORY: Samsung has confirmed the official release dates for its long-awaited Galaxy Fold smartphone in Korea, Singapore, France, and Germany. After previously announcing that it would release in “select markets” in September following improvements made to the Galaxy Fold back in July, the tech conglomerate has said Korea will be the first to get the phone on September 6.

Following closely is France, Germany and Singapore, which will receive the handset on September 18. The handsets will be available in both “Cosmos Black” and “Space Silver” in all of the inaugural markets, with some countries having access to the smartphone’s 5G capabilities, too.

Samsung has said that the Galaxy Fold will release in the US “in the coming weeks,” but has not given an exact date on when the UK can expect to receive the highly-anticipated device.  The Verge‘s sources state it could release on September 27, but this date is speculative until further notice. The tech company is also introducing a new program called “Galaxy Fold Premier Service,” in which customers will have “direct access to Samsung experts who can provide you tailored guidance and support over the phone any time, any day. This includes an optional one-on-one onboarding session.” This service is included in the price of the Galaxy Fold.
