A new trailer for Memory: the Origins of Alien has released to dissect the importance of Alien, the original sci-fi horror film directed by Ridley Scott.
As Alien reaches its 40-year anniversary this year, director Alexandre O. Philippe went deep into the archives and history of the film to showcase exactly how deep the story and ethos go behind the movie. The trailer reveals plenty of behind-the-scenes footage including a segment dedicated to the famous chestburster scene which, according to the film’s folklore, was a genuine surprise to the cast as they were unaware of what exactly would happen. Additionally, the film goes into detail behind the work by H.R. Giger, the core designer behind the Xenomorph’s menacing look and feel. Lastly, fans will learn about the underpinnings of the Alien franchise, and how it addressed the “phobias” and existential questions we have as a society.
Memory: the Origins of Alien will release in select nationwide theaters and will also reach On Demand services on October 4. The last we heard of the Alien franchise, Ridley Scott is set to direct the third prequel which is being written.
