Presenting its first-ever fully-fledged womenswear collection in Soulland’s neighborhood of Frederiksberg, the brand delivered a collection which was inspired by the cultural expressions of pedestrians. Soulland looked at the “power of walking” following a series of studies in various European capitals. The study impacted the collection’s design process and craftsmanship and reflects upon how each pedestrian’s unique step tells a story.
A new Nike SB collaboration was also presented on the runway. Following on from 2017’s “FRI.day Part 0.2” Dunk Low Pro and Dunk High Pro release, SS20 collaboration delivers a snakeskin Nike SB Blazer Mid featuring an off-white sole, patterned laces, an OG foam tongue and a unique red-and-white leather tongue tab.
Standout pieces from Soulland’s SS20 collection include a floral pajama-like two-piece, a heat-map patch bowling shirt, a pale yellow satin shirt and a textured grey leather jacket. The collection is full of relaxed tailoring and plenty of Summer shirting options, with a light blue two-piece suit and a silky white pajama-esque set with black floral artwork allover also making big statements on the runway.
Womenswear was developed by Mathilde Maalouf, who used full creative openness to make “an uncompromising aesthetic” for the future of Soulland’s womenswear pieces. As Silas Adler, creative director of Soulland says, “Mathilde stepping in as Design director and launching our women’s collection is a blessing. She has given the brand and collection new dimensions.”
